about

“Bargeldlos durch die Nacht” by Danijet Shashamook Fischer is a cassette of improvised music for solo guitar and sometimes voice. The music was recorded directly on to the cassette, and the cassette has never been duplicated and never will be. The cassette is thus one of a kind and is therefore not available for purchase, but it can be loaned from Nasse Records and then returned. The cassette is an experiment in finding ways of producing, distributing and consuming music that may allow more rewarding and interesting listening experiences. The contexts enforced by the limited, physical nature of the cassette will offer at least different listening experiences compared to those that would arise if the album was available constantly, with essentially no effort on the part of the listener, via some kind of streaming platform. The album is recommended for adventurous listeners who are interested in stubbornly pushing back against the constant, and potentially destructive, influence of hyper-capitalistic consumerism in cultural production and distribution.
